In this project, my collaborator and I tested how intrapersonal skills (e.g., social skills) might affect how their peers perceive their leadership skills. We found that self-control is the most important skill for individuals to have (at least in the context of small teams). What’s important to remember is that context is everything; this study was conducted on undergraduate students working on a group assignment for employers. Thus, it should be noted that different intrapersonal skills may matter for organizations. We presented this work at the annual conference for Association for Psychological Sciences.
